This is becoming such a DIY/Tezukuri Blog..what’s going on!?

Today i’m going to do my long overdue Deco Cosme Tutorial aka the Bling Bling tutorial
If you are decorating phones/ipods/laptops aka electronics or DENki, then its called DecoDEN
[See my previous works here]
But today i am decorating something Cosmetic related [see its beauty related] hence Deco Cosme.

Anyway as we all know i am not very good at tutorials [or reviews or anything for that matter]
So just bear with me XD

Here’s what i am decorating [eyeshadow palette] and my inspiration is from the new esprique precious compact case.
deco9 gorgeous compact from esprique de kose released 13.2

Everyone’s number 1 question is about the glue so here is a close up of the glue + magical tip stick i am using
sunhoseki05

Ok so lets start
deco
You probably dont need that many pairs of tweezers, i go a bit overboard.

Clean the surface of whatever you are decorating.
deco1
We’ll start by covering the “words”

Put a drop of glue and select the crystal you want.
Here’s a close up pic
deco2
The magical tip stick is great! its a stick with a little double sided foamy tape at the end [such a A-HA! idea]
I think you can make your own without purchasing it.

Anyway once u covered the words, put a few random drops of glue
deco3
Wow i didnt realise how long my nails are..till i saw this pic XD!!!

In general, try to put the big crystals in the beginning to space them out as they look kinda cramped and weird if there are far too many lumped together
deco4

Fill in the gaps with the smaller crystals [you can use some of the few big ones to even it out]
deco5
Start from one end. You shouldnt spread glue all over it right away. Its messy and your glue might dry up.
I started from the left.

Right side and middle done
deco6
Its looking pretty similar to the esprique precious compact by now [or maybe its just me?]

But i chose these sea-like colors as i wanted to do a bubble effect which is quite popular right now
deco7
The finished product

deco8
Opened up

What do you think?
Hope this tutorial is useful to someone. i’m not very good at explaining things but if you have any questions, just ask! And here are some links on where to buy materials [prices found there, please check as it varies in size etc]

dekoden.com
they ship overseas too! here’s the english enquiry page.

For those in Japan, try sunhoseki.com
Note all my materials above are from SunHoseki but i have visited the store front of dekoden in Nippori as well.

i see a lot of questions about protecting surfaces of things u wish to decorate
if you intend to decorate your ipod or ds, i reccomend that you buy a case and decorate that instead.
Those with phones in Japan, we can also buy a case covering as well on dekoden. [sorry no idea about phones outside of japan]

Lastly, you can also invest in this
Its 180yen and you stick it on whatever you want to decorate
You can easily remove it later with no stains/scratches or worries
627039_d1
its not a screen protector or a thin layer of plastic, its more like a rubbery layer i think

    I have been lurking around for a while now~ And I have finally decided to comment for once ;_;

I am really interested in your DecoDEN. I really wanna try it out but I have a question about the glue. I know you posted a picture of it. Is it like superglue? Or some kind of special glue? ^_^
But the makeup case turned out very cute! I am going to try it out in the future :D

I hope you get well soon too ?

    Take care!

    • Bittenbefore says:

hey there, thanks for delurking! i love meeting new readers!
i have no idea what makes the glue so special but its from the shop where i bought the crystals
to be honest i used to just used superglue from daiso [100yen shop]
i think as long as it is safe for plastics or metal [depending on what u are decorating] should be ok??

thanks! i hope to not fall sick!

Ooh! i love what you did to the palette ^_^ and yay to giveaways! o(^u^)o
uhm. I have a question, when the stones starts falling off does it leave ugly glue stains on the compact or is it like silicone that falls off completely? because my family owns a hardware store and some people who decorate stuffs prefer to use silicone especially for clear surfaces because it dries up really well and when you peel it off it comes off as one whole or something like rubber :p

I read your blog everyday but I don’t comment T_T (too amazed perhaps??)

    • Bittenbefore says:

Hi there! thanks for commenting! to be honest i dont know XD i havent had anything fall off yet. i would think when it happens, i would just stick one back on?

very cool about the hardware store! i have questions about hardware supplies and silicon all the time!!!!

  14. miemiemie says:

omg i love how you decorated it! can i join? hahaha i should say something interesting..like uhm..wait before that how much are those stones cost? oh and you didn’t answer my question yet regarding the palettes you got on one of your recent entries..you mentioned that it was for a swap. i want them, want to do another swap? haha..

  16. Heartbreaker says:

    HI there =)

Oh my,your palette looks yummy.I decorated my laptop with pre-stick gems now.I tried before using glue from daiso also hahaha. But it left a stain on my laptop, and very hard to remove,so i shall consider buying the stick on thing.Hopefully they have it in M’sia! Those gems are pretty expensive here,i saw some on artbeads.com,they are selling 60+ for 0.05 cent each T.T

Anyway, count me in for the giveaway, might as well try my luck :D :D:D:D:D

Take care Yume-chan..=) you WILL NOT fall sick,no worries,be happy!

  30. nefta says:

  31. Traclyn Yeoh says:

That is such a great DIY. It looks like some bubbly oceanic theme. How creative! I always wanted to bling my stuff but every time I want to start, I have a question in my head whether is it worth it…

p/s: I think you did better than the inspired new esprique compact case…

Man…I want to go to Asia!! I’ve been meaning to go to Hong Kong for the longest time…but I haven’t…Korea would be the perfect place to go right now because the exchange rate is $1USD ~ 1550 won. But Japan is $1USD ~ 90something yen!! Rawrrrr. It sucks being a poor college student. T_T I put those sticky ones on my cellphone before (from sunhoseki, they used to ship their catalog overseas for free but now I think they charge a shipping fee and they no longer have a small little english section on their page) but they all came off.

  36. Kat C. says:

    I wanna join! =)

    Oh, something interesting:

My eyes got really red today, so out of sheer frustration, I took off my contacts and threw them in the trash can. I had to go home blind as a bat. hehehehe

  44. May says:

The magical tip looks awesome and much easier to work with, i looked online and they dont sell any here. Ugh. but you just gave me an idea to make my own. Also, the glue you got has a nice small tip, i want one too. How long does it take to dry?

  48. Rai says:

Something interesting —> I don’t own anything blinging at all! Are you shocked?!

  53. cheryl says:

wow so many people commented already but i’m still interested t join the giveaway. i need to tell u something interesting to qualify though: i realised no european makeup brand offers face-contouring palettes… i searched all over: guerlain, dior, make up for ever, whatever… none of them has face contour palettes like asian makeup brands T_T

  54. Jae says:

Wonderful tutorial, hon!! ♥ I love the placement of the crystals.

Also, add my name to the contest! Why not?! ^^*

  55. Stephy says:

  56. Sam says:

Wow, that’s gorgeous! You’re very talented. I know if I tried that it would just look weird.
Hope your throat is OK (I’ve lost my voice from my strep throat..oh well no work.)
Um, something interesting for the competition…hmm, I’ve spent about 5 mins trying to think of something random about Australia. Although it’s pretty unusual to see a kangaroo in the city, I saw one the other day while on the freeway. He was huge!

  60. spankedelic says:

thanks or the comment. yeah, that girl is out of my life. i don’t like being around negative people. i mean, how can she be so negative all the time, being around patients and stuff? you have to be positive and happy, you know??? she’s such a debbie downer! lol. anywhooooooo, that palette you did was so cute. i did my old cellphone like that once but the crystals popped off. lol. then my phone looked all ugly! maybe it was the glue! i wanna join your contest and what can i tell you that is interesting? hmmmm……i used to put ants on my tongue when i was little so they could dance on it. i know, weird! lol.
