This is becoming such a DIY/Tezukuri Blog..what’s going on!?
Today i’m going to do my long overdue Deco Cosme Tutorial aka the Bling Bling tutorial
If you are decorating phones/ipods/laptops aka electronics or DENki, then its called DecoDEN
[See my previous works here]
But today i am decorating something Cosmetic related [see its beauty related] hence Deco Cosme.
Anyway as we all know i am not very good at tutorials [or reviews or anything for that matter]
So just bear with me XD
Here’s what i am decorating [eyeshadow palette] and my inspiration is from the new esprique precious compact case.
Everyone’s number 1 question is about the glue so here is a close up of the glue + magical tip stick i am using

Ok so lets start

You probably dont need that many pairs of tweezers, i go a bit overboard.
Clean the surface of whatever you are decorating.

We’ll start by covering the “words”
Put a drop of glue and select the crystal you want.
Here’s a close up pic

The magical tip stick is great! its a stick with a little double sided foamy tape at the end [such a A-HA! idea]
I think you can make your own without purchasing it.
Anyway once u covered the words, put a few random drops of glue

Wow i didnt realise how long my nails are..till i saw this pic XD!!!
In general, try to put the big crystals in the beginning to space them out as they look kinda cramped and weird if there are far too many lumped together

Fill in the gaps with the smaller crystals [you can use some of the few big ones to even it out]

Start from one end. You shouldnt spread glue all over it right away. Its messy and your glue might dry up.
I started from the left.
Right side and middle done

Its looking pretty similar to the esprique precious compact by now [or maybe its just me?]
But i chose these sea-like colors as i wanted to do a bubble effect which is quite popular right now

The finished product
What do you think?
Hope this tutorial is useful to someone. i’m not very good at explaining things but if you have any questions, just ask! And here are some links on where to buy materials [prices found there, please check as it varies in size etc]
dekoden.com
they ship overseas too! here’s the english enquiry page.
For those in Japan, try sunhoseki.com
Note all my materials above are from SunHoseki but i have visited the store front of dekoden in Nippori as well.
i see a lot of questions about protecting surfaces of things u wish to decorate
if you intend to decorate your ipod or ds, i reccomend that you buy a case and decorate that instead.
Those with phones in Japan, we can also buy a case covering as well on dekoden. [sorry no idea about phones outside of japan]
Lastly, you can also invest in this
Its 180yen and you stick it on whatever you want to decorate
You can easily remove it later with no stains/scratches or worries

its not a screen protector or a thin layer of plastic, its more like a rubbery layer i think

hi yumeko, i really really like these diy tutorials that u do
it inspired me so much, that i just can’t wait to start decorating my palettes
will check that link asap
love ur blogs a lotttt
Yume-chan,
Totally random, but here’s an interesting thing about me:
I detest socks. The first thing I do when I get home is to take off my socks. I cannot wait until sandal season.
My mother told me that when I was a child, I would take off my socks even at my friends’ houses (and then forget them!) I guess old habits die hard!!
This is so much fun. Feel like we are young again playing with sparkles and stuff. Are you going to ship the palette anywhere in the world? It is snowing outside and extremely cold. Just thought winter is almost over the other day.
hmmm… something interesting? i’m not sure if this is interesting enough for you but do you know that antibacterial soaps don’t do any good just harms? most antibacterial products (soaps, toothpastes, even fabrics, children’s toys, cosmetics, etc.) contain a pesticide called triclosan. triclosan is indeed effective in killing of 99% of bacteria, however what most dont know is that the 1% of the bacteria adapt a antibacterial resistance, so these bacteria would be difficult to eliminate and when your infected it would be difficult to be cured. plus, triclosan goes to your pipe and into the sea right? these triclosan kills algae, planktons, and other marine organisms as well thus threatening aquatic life and biodiversity. Triclosan when mixed with other compounds also forms a much more toxic substance that could kill immediately. triclosan is also linked to cancer, allergies, and asthma. manufacturers market products with triclosan as a much more healthier product, but in act they’re just fooling the consumers, cause there ares till no evidences until now that these products are much more effective in disease prevention that regular product. based on recent laboratory studies, there is really no need in using antibacteria;l soaps, since regular soap and water removes the same amount of bacteria without the harmful effects of triclosan. it’s all the manufacturer’s idea to get consumers to buy their so called much better? triclosan containing products. As we know there are still needs for antibacterial products like in the medical field, so is triclosan still needed? the answer is no! since there are organinc alternatives that are much more affordable and as effective to triclosan andd without the negative effects. you can always use 70% ethanol (ethyl alcohol) to santize since it doesnt give negative effects except for dryness for some which =can asily be remedied by using moisturizers and lotuons. so the next time you buy something do check the label..
HOPE THIS INTEREST YOU.. I JUST DID A LABORATORY STUDY REGARDING THIS MATTER AND SO FAR EVERYTHING I WROTE IS TRUE.
I hope you feel better soon, Yumeko.
You really are talented…and generous with your knowledge. This was such a fun post to read. The compact is beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.
I’m back to tell you something interesting! Lol Hmmm.
So at the elementary school I work at, there is this fenced up empty field behind it. I just found out last week, that it’s a “burrowing owl preserve” and no one is allowed to touch it. However, it turns out that every four months or so, when the grass in the field gets long, they let in a flock of sheep and goats to “mow the lawn” naturally. Interesting, yeah? :]
haha.. just read about your contest. i’d like to join for the fun of it.
interesting things… did you know, your left eye brow is always better looking than your right eye brows? it’s usually more perfect for your face. so that’s why people usually shape their eye brows to be the same as their left.
i’ve always wondered if it’s true. but from what i’ve seen, examing people’s eye brows, i think it’s a fair statement. hahaha.. interesting right?
I would like to join the giveaway.
As for my interesting bit…
I like growing my own vegetables but I never eat them.
I end up giving them away.
I wanna join!
Something interesting….did you know that organic eggs float in water while regular eggs do not?
Have a great day!!
hmm, something interesting… not sure whether this sounds interesting to you or not, but I’m going to give it a try <3
When a person try to cheat, he/she will never ever look into your eyes, their eyes will look down and will move to the left. This is because our left brain function in critical thinking, making analysis and also decision making. People who learn arts will have better and stronger memory than those who didn’t involve in any sort of art. This is because right brain functions as emotional, snapping image. So, students who learn art/music are always able to perform better than those who didn’t.
hope you like it…
Awesome tutorial! I would love to join. Count me in! i don’t know why I want it because I have too much makeup not being used but it ‘s a chance right?
OOPS, I forgot to mention something interesting.
Although I’ve only moved 4-5 times, I have been to atleast 12 different schools. I’m surprised I’ve managed to come to one of the best universities in the U.S!
The deco-palette is lovelyyyyyy! I’ve always wanted to bling out my phone/camera/palm pilot/calculator/remote control but I just don’t have the patience!!! I’ve been thinking of taking up knitting…or something quiet like that instead of drinking excessively, LOL. Odaiji ni! Hope we can meet up sooooooooooooooooooooooooon!
Hi Yumeko,
I’m a new reader of your blog, found out about it thru Haru’s blog (Rouge Deluxe) just a week ago but have been reading Bittenbefore religiously everyday. I’m always checking it out for any latest entries and I’ve really enjoyed reading all ur articles and wonderful pictures of ur handicrafts. Wished that I’ve nimble fingers like yours. Loooveess your latest creation out of that palette! Kirei ~~ ^__^
Well. here’s something interesting (came across it on the net):
Did u know that after much research, India has made soft drinks out of cow’s urine and will be launching them soon! (sounds erm, adventurous I know..) Apparently, cow is a sacred animal in India and cow urine and dung are often consumed in rituals to “purify” those on the bottom rungs of the Hindu caste system. Hence, it’s pretty much a norm for them to drink this sacred “concoction” and it is claimed that the new soft drink does not tastes like urine and is in fact a healthy drink. Well, I must say that it’s really eco-friendly huh? But I don’t think it’s likely that I would replace my regular Coke with this cow urine soft drink at all. Would you? ;P

Something interesting: Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.
Try it! It works for me as I used to tear quite abit whenever I peeled onions.
Great tutorial! I envy you that you live in Japan! with all the easy access to the japanese make up and skin care lines!!
keep up the gd work with the blog!
Cool tutorial!! Wow…that palette looks gorgeous! That’s such a great giveaway! Tell you something interesting though?! The moon jumped over the cat and spilled tea on its hat so the bat chased the spoon away! Or was that just random nonsense? hehe Count me in for your giveaway just ’cause the palette is so gorgeous with your bling!
Okay I forgot to tell you something interesting!
Here´s something I thought is interesting:
In medieval times, german girls used to pick the prettiest apple of a tree to make the one they love, fall in love with them! The girls wrote little notes, which they hid in the apples, afterwards they slept on it and hoped the man they loved would love them back!
Pretty romantic huh?^^
Lurker, de-lurking.
Can’t resist possibilityof free stuff
Interesting website: http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/
These pictures actually make me more hungry than disgusted at the fact that I love to eat crap like that.
Ohh, I would love to win that. It looks beautiful.
Something interesting… hmmm. Your post made me think of a Hello Kitty compact I saw on ebay. This girl was buying up Hello Kitty compact and decorating them with swarovski crystals and selling them. Pretty cool idea.
