I couldnt figure out how i would post about my trip to Seoul so i think i’m going to do it by sections
Today i will write about Dongdaemun.
To get to Dongdaemun, you can take a train but since i was going after midnight , i took a taxi [ok i admit it , i took taxi everywhere in Seoul, i only took the train once. in my defense, taxi is really cheap]
Anyway the reason why i was going after midnight was that Dongdaemun has several malls which open till 4am!
Note: Not all shops in korea shut at 4am, most shut at 10ish like tokyo but for some reason in dongdaemum that open till late daily [except monday]

Migilore, one of the malls there, opens till 4am. TONS of shops inside
Many are wholesalers too. They sell clothing , bags, accessories, u name it. Even homewares!
One thing i find about korea, the stores tend to always have someone that speaks japanese as they have a lot of japanese tourists [seriously in myeongdong, i thought there was more japanese people than korean]
But the problem in a wholesale situation, its never priced and they tend to charge the tourists more.
The prices quoted to me were fairly high as i was with my husband who is an australian. They dont seem to get many caucasians there. As a matter, many places we went, the husband was the only caucasian person. And we hardly met anyone that spoke english [even the hotel staff were kinda so-so] <-- i am not bagging people in korea! i probably just didnt meet enough people! Also not many people in Japan speak english either so i dont think there is anything wrong with that.

Can u see the sign for THE FACE SHOP? yes even the cosmetics joints in this area open till crazy late.
And so are the food places

you can see the sign for The FACE Shop much clearer now. I loved how everyone was walking around at 1am eating BBQ and what not. Totally my kind of place.
And of course… i got the munchies [is this an australian saying? not sure, but my husband and i say it a lot, it means to get hungry]

Bibimbap – husband’s choice

No idea what this is called. Lets call its SPICY noodles. My stomach was on fire!
And usually i can eat spicy food too [so i think] but i looked around, even the other customers who were korean were all sniffing/blowing their nose from the spice. So i can tell u, its EFFING spicy. But so good, i ate it all hahahah
And to douse the fire

lychee X apple juice. its soo good, i drank several bottles whilst in korea.
Energized…back to shopping

The fabulous Ikko-san in an ad for ETUDEHOUSE’s bbcream.
I promptly went into the store [yes at 3am] for some hauling!
After which i had to go sit down and the husband bought this

its like a corndog…but the batter has french fries in it. it was weirdly good i thought.
Also had a milky drink

i cant read korean, is this banana milk? tasted like banana milk to me. dont mind the super dry hands, at -5 degrees C, without gloves, i was asking for it.

Another mall! [dont know the name] apM???
Skinfood store is round the corner from here. [also open till 4am]

Finally around 5am, i went back to my hotel ^^V
Pics of hauls will be featured in a separate post [some of u have seen some of the pics already so u know its a HAUL heehee]
In other great news, i came home to 3 wonderful packages. One from Fuzkittie, one from Heartbreaker and the last from Notarichgirl. I’ll dedicate posts to all of them soon! Also a few weeks ago i recieved a package from my mystery lover [u know who u are] so i’ll post that soon as well! Yes i am sooo overdue on posts! and emails! and reading! and lots of other things. Sorry!!

I’d love to go to Japan and Korea someday..but wow, it is difficult because of the language, but that’s the adventure part!!!
Oohhh BIBIMBOP!! my fave!!!
omg that does sound like a great city! i can’t believe the shops are open so late!! and the food is making me so hungry
omg! the noodles look so awesome and spicy.

i wanna go to dongdaemun.. i heard the clothes are cheap and u can find hidden treasures! (good clothing cheap price xD)
lol, yes everyone in australia says they have ‘the munchies’.
I’m so jealous that the shops open until 4am! In Australia they open till 9pm on Thursdays and 5.30pm other days – this is why i never get to go shopping after school :/
Can’t wait to see your hauls!!
OH WOW you had a great time! I love how everywhere in Asia (except Japan?) things are open until really late at night!!!
Aahhh… I wanna travel back to seoul now! When I arrived at Dongdaemun, I was as surprised as you to see how alive it was after midnight!!! Love~~*
24 hour shopping and Bibimbap?? Sounds like my idea of supa fun times xx
that is so cool. My area, all shops close at 9.30pm. I’m so angry with it, how those mall make business @___@
Korea is so nice, so does Japan,I wanna go both place one day <3
Korean food, yummy =D
WOW All the yummy food! Did you take the chance to try the spicy rice cakes? It’s a must try. I was once tried it in a Korean restaurant when I traveled to Perth. It was amazing!
Gorgeous, dear!! I can’t wait to see more pictures.
Also, the food looks SO yummy <33
looks like you had fun! i agree taxis are so cheap. did you speak japanese or english to them? i’ve only taken the taxi once because i’m scared i dunno how to communicate with them hehe
i think i need to revisit dongdaemun again, i didn’t find anything there last time
*sigh*
the food looks sooo delicious
and wow your nails look amazing!!!! lol
And yea that is banana milk. =)
can’t wait to see more pictures!!
Eee! Looks wonderful! I also want to visit korea badly now. Too bad they charge tourists for more? Kinda chase away the tourists? -_-;
Corndog? o-O Never seen a thing like it before? XD Is it good? -goes to google- and that milky drink thing looks so good! ? (loves milk) And apple juice xD (drinking apple juice right now~) aaah.. You are making me more hungry! XD

SHOP TILL YOU DROP
SHOP TILL YOU DROP
OMG stores are open till 4am..?? That is complete heaven to me!!!!!!!!!! We use the terms munchies here in the US..but it usually means the hunger you feel after you get high..LOL
WOW, shops open till 4 AM? That is like right out of my dreams! hahaha….. I need to add Korea on my list of places to go before I die.
I was six years old when we lived in Japan and we left when I was fourteen years old. I think my parents knew that if they stayed there with me being a teenager they would have gone broke. They had enough with trying to curb my older sister and brother’s spending. hahahaha….
I can’t believe things are open so late!! Even 10PM Is pretty late here, only drug stores are usually open past that time. And all the open-late cosmetics would make me DIIEEEE… I’d end up spending a lot of money at 3AM. LOL.
Spicy noodles looks delicious but Kelsie does not like hot stuff at ALL, so we’ll have to be a little careful. XD;
4am O.O haha i shall go there when i’m rich and return home broke haha. as ning mentioned, shopping malls in m’sia closes at 10(as written) but they tend to close earlier than said.
there is one shopping mall in singapore that opens 24 hours if i’m not mistaken.lol lol.
That’s mustafa! The little india town! LOL…
I would never go home if I could shop till 4am. I’ll have to add korea to the list when I shop my way through Asia.
I use the word “munchies” all the time even though I’m not australian. BF wonders how I can stay tiny when I’m always munching on stuff. Seing your food pics is giving me the munchies right now.
Can’t wait to see more!
hahaha 4am! wow… in HK they openquite late too. Here is not too bad at 10p, they close some shops at 10pm in UK.. but 4am is another story. They lead a noturnal life it seems! all good though, go shopping after night shift
The food looks good! Korea looks interesting so far, I have a Canadian korean friend whose gone back to korea… to serve the army, told me about their interesting drinking habits
!!
Yummmm, omg that food looks soooo good. I have the muchies now too
wow.. 4am~~ no wonder all the restaurants in NYC Korean town open until 3-4am. It looks so much fun there, nightlife, shopping. It sucks when the wholesalers charge more once they find out you are tourists. Yes, it’s me.. hehe.. I want to see your hauls~~
open till 4am?? that’s so my kind of place
the corndog like concoction looks effing delicious. fried yummy!
Korean is definitely on the my next list after japan!! I heard abt dongdaemon area, my sis been there and she said it is a temptation heaven
it’s such a pity they always charge more for tourist, just like china…if you have local friend it would be so much easier
lol
yeah. korea is just like any other country you visit as a tourist. they always try and charge you more. im korean and they would charge me more cause im not ‘native’ >_<
ahhh so want to try that spicy noodle thing. it looks like jambong without the soup though…so im confused.
haven’t you ever stayed up til 2am and wished you could shop??
I have many times in Canada…and keep hoping they will have a place open til 4am! lol the Koreans are smart in that way. Anyway looks like you had quite the experience^^
food looks yummy!
Glad you had a great time!
Oh my gosh, looks like soooo much fun! I’m super jealous that The Face Shop and Skinfood is there and is open til 4 am!! You look like you had a grand time and can’t wait to see the hauling posts! Aha and the packages from the lovely ladies as well. Let me know if you ever wanna swap, its a great way for me to get to know you more! You have my email
wow ! it’s beautiful over there. i wish i was there with you enjoying food and shopping =). that corndog/fries looks interesting hehe.
Ah! I’m starting to miss Korea–AGAIN:[
Oh, and that is Banana milk!<<<33333 I don’t know but, Korean milk tastes so much sweeter than the milk in the states. I hear it’s because Koreans treat their cows lovingly?! Haha.
I would love to shop at 12 am! lol seriously! totally our kind of spot! Nothing to do at night? SHOP!
I’m a spicy fan tooo!! especially with noodles! and your bowl of noodles is seriously making me drool here…I”M JEALOUS!! but not till very long until i go to hk hahahha
Who was looking at your dry cuticles? I was paying attention more to those fabulous nails of yours

wow, day 1 in korea and u were already shopping til you drop! haha! now can’t wait for more posts!
Wow, this place is awesome. Is “myeongdong” the place everyone talks about , where you can shop forever till morning or is there another place in Korea. I’m guessing this is the place. Can’t wait to see what you hauled!! I love that you modeled your bling bling nails in the pics =)
It’s so cool that so many shops are still open that late, really great pictures, and your nails are so nice!

Wow the stores are open so late~
I wish they had those kinds of hours in US and Japan (in US everything closes so early and in my area, all malls are closed on Sunday because of some blue law–church related?)
Hahaha Ikko san is so funny.. he/she (does she go by she or he?) is really good at applying makeup and her makeover show is so funny, esp. the one when she goes into the countryside.
I can’t wait to see your hauls and more pics!
A mall open til 4am?! Oh that’s totally my type of place! haha. The food looks awesome! Mmmhmm lychee apple juice and the corndog with french fries in the batter look so yummy!!!!! I’m excited to see more of your trip!!

In Thailand there are some parts of the city booming with nightlife. I wish that in the states shopping centers would close that late, then again better on my wallet! = P
