New magazines + Peninsula Hotel High Tea

Today’s entry will probably be kinda short as i am writing this on my laptop but have no idea where my charger is. It claims to only have 21min left of battery usage XD

Bought some new magazines from Page One bookstore in TST
mag02
Korean magazine Ceci and Japanese magazine Sweet

I think a lot of people have already blogged about this issue of Sweet
mag03
Comes with a lovely sized Cher tote bag and pass case.
Cher is a popular brand for eco canvas bags in Japan. They make clothes as well which are sold mostly via mail order in Japan.

Here’s a photo of the model using the bag
mag06
I really like the print and colors.

Didnt want to post many scans since most people already did but i thought to fuel my current mac obsession…
mag04

mag05
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS LOOK.

And i spied an ad for the upcoming Paul & Joe X Alice in Wonderland collection
mag08

The other magazine i picked up was Ceci! i loooove this magazine! So glad i can buy it easily in Hong Kong. When i was in Japan, i could only buy this when i travelled to Seoul. Its far too heavy to buy online.
mag09
Bought this from PageOne bookstore in TST for 105hkd [about 12usd?], the original price in Korea is about 9USD.

I think a difference of USD$3 is ok since its such a thick book. This issue also came with a free gift!
mag10
A maybelline wetshine lipgloss! i actually like these lipglosses so quite glad to get it!

Oddly enough, i actually purchased the local version of Ceci [cos i am curious as to how they stack up]
mag11
Cost wise, the local version is only 30hkd ie under $4USD.
The contents differ quite a bit. The featured girl is the same but the other editorials are different.
Somehow i thought they would be the same?XD??

Of cos the local copy has less advertisements [which is kinda sad since the advertisements in korean magazine Ceci are of kpop stars hahahha]
You can see the difference in thickness.
mag12
But now that i know i can buy the korean version easily, i might continue buying that instead.

Look if i was going to be buying a magazine i cant read [chinese or korean] might as well choose the one with the eye candy advertisements hahahahahaha i am so superficial.

Yesterday i went to Peninsula Hotel with Mish and Lisa for high tea
mon01

The place is lovely but the weather was not great yesterday.
mon02

The high tea we had.
mon03

So much food, could not finish it
mon04

i like cucumber sandwiches
mon05

Scones! Extremely full at the end of this.
mon06

How it all looked
mon07
There was tea of course!
Shoutout to my tea buddy, we’ll have to go there when you come visit me!!! You know who you are.

And for those wondering how my blingy iphone case is going….
mag01
I have done a bit more since but i forgot to take a pic XD

A few of you asked me to do a tutorial but i already started and i didnt take pics haha so please try checking out a previous tutorial i did instead? http://bittenbefore.com/tokyolife/2009/03/04/deco-cosme/

And a lot of you asked me to do a bbcream review as well..but i am kinda lazy to find all my tubes of bbcream XD so please read the one i did last year. http://bittenbefore.com/tokyolife/2009/05/26/innisfree-cleanser-my-bbcream-collection/
I bought more since i did that review so my faves may have changed around a bit. I’ll do an updated review once i am..less lazy about finding all the tubes of bbcream i have.

Any questions in the meantime, be it about decoden [blinging stuff out], bbcream, whatever, email me ^^ or leave a comment!

Oh and before i forget, i recieved a lot of emails from you guys about meetups in Singapore and Melbourne Australia. Since i am not in either places very long [1 to 2 weeks], i am unable to meet anymore people which is why i didnt mention it again in my last post but i continued to get more emails so i thought i should let you guys know. Really sorry about this guys@!!!!!! If you were one of those that emailed me, i am still trying to get through all my emails so please wait ^^

Ok i am really done now, the indicator for the laptop battery has a little yellow hazard sign on it. I guess i better get going.
XOXO
Yumeko

p.s i have come to realise hk is a really small island. Even though i dont post photos of myself online, someone managed to recognise me XD Shoutout to Miss XXX whom i met a few days ago. Thanks for saying hi!

This song came up on my ipod lately and i rememeber how much i love this song

When i first saw Tohoshinki perform this live [at the concert] i actually had tears welling up in my eyes.
I hope the 5 can always stay together.

You’re having so much fun! I love high tea, can’t get enough of that stuff here. I’ve also come to realize that English jam is the best I’ve ever had, so I’m just eating that nonstop with scones and crumpets XD

  2. Nicole says:

Once again, I drooled at the food porn, especially the macaroons. Are they pistachio-flavored or green tea? XD And whenever I go to HK, I also buy my magazines in PageOne (from TST too! XD Did you go to the one in Harbour City? Not sure if there’s only PageOne there lol) but I heard they’re a bit cheaper in Mong Kok. I don’t really go to Mong Kok in fear of acid droppings and whatnot, so I guess I have no choice hahaha XD

Where’s the Peninsula Hotel located? :) And you should try having high tea in Marriot Hotel ^^; Love their lunch buffet as well ^o^

  3. eng says:

    The food looks gorgeous!!
I often drop by Kinokuniya to get magazines in Jap. Can’t read too, but they are often filled with pictures, so I guess it’s more than enough.. Actually, most of the time I got the magazines for the gifts :D

LOL.. you recycled the your old posts!! Will read them later. Haha

    • Bittenbefore says:

i can read japanese [haha of course] but not the korean ones.
      recycling is good hahaha

      • eng says:

Finished reading the posts.. haha.. I know how to read Chinese, able to read a few words here and there for Jap (most of the time trying to know what is the product/brand for makeup =P), and sadly Korean characters looked all the same to me and make me dizzy..

  4. miRa says:

  6. Tiffany says:

And is Banila.co available in Hong Kong? >_<

    • Bittenbefore says:

  13. Jenn says:

High tea looks lovely! mmh makes me want cucumber sandwiches now.

So jealous the bf gets to go to hk this month.

I pick japanese mags the same way~the ones with the better pics =)

  14. Sara Mari says:

I also got that issue of Sweet haha, I took the bag and ditched the magazine! Well like you said transporting large magazines is no fun.

Wow, that high tea set looks soooo yummy. Usually the food in tea sets is small or not as great as you’d hope. It makes me want to eat some fancy finger foods^^

  15. Rina says:

I love Ceci and Sweet magazine!

  16. tomomi says:

your high tea looks so fancy!

nice mags! i never purchased those ones before…it’s not easy to get asian magazines in Canada.

Tohoshinki!~ love in the ice is the first song i heard from them…it’s when i first fell in love with them. <3
    i absolutely love this song!

  17. soyeon says:

wow hong kong is pretty slow because that’s the january issue of ceci. the february issue came out in the u.s. last week! haha but i pay $27usd per issue at the local korean bookstore O_o ridiculous i know but i’m korean and understand everything so :)

    i love reading your blog!

    • Bittenbefore says:

haha i think the feb issue is available in some places here but then i’d have to pay a higher price for the airmail shipment. but wooo 27 dollars is expensive indeed! but since u understand everything, i think tats ok! there’s a lot to read/see! i envy you for being able to read it!!
thanks for reading my blog too! do come back and visit me again? <3

  18. Denysia says:

Thank you for the magazine scans! :D

  19. adin says:

    love2 your blog….do update more….XOXO

  20. High tea is so fun! XD

  21. Like your personal iphone case! Looks very cute!
You are lucky! You got a lot of free stuff with magazines! Every time I buy them I never get something free hahaha~

  22. sarah says:

wow! your case is coming along nicely xD such dedication!

  23. superwoolu says:

gahhh why are magazines so cheap in asia!!!! i think CECI retails like >$20 here!! tres sad!!

  24. Jian says:

Ahh~ I can’ believe you got recognise already! O_O That’s really surprising? How can someone recognise you if they’ve never seen your face before?!

I got recognised once too, by a girl who lives in the same block of apartments as me. I freaked out, said I needed to go and ran away. xD

  25. Jian says:

Ahh~ I hit reply before I meant to, but anyway. Really loving the iPhone case so far, and the high-tea looks delish. The penninsula is really nice isn’t it xD

And not bad for only 3 dollars more! When I went to the bookstore, the magazines in Shanghai are more expensive than that, and they’re all tatty too. I think Vivi retails for about £10 (I converted it in my head to GBP), but in Japan it’s much less than that? Like, $6 USD? ><

  26. wuzzyangel says:

OMG The tea!! I love tea & tea food! LOL! That’s looks sooooo goooood!! :)

Wow that really is a diff in the mags! The bag you got is cute!! See why cant US mags give free stuff too?! LOL!

I’m glad to hear you’re well. And LOL on being recognized! See we all wanna piece of Yume! :)

  27. Kylie says:

im with u on the eye candy advertisements ;) LOL. high tea sounds and looks fun! i like munching on many different things rather than just one big entree… and the cher eco bags are cuuuute~

  28. Justine says:

Haha glad you found your magazine in HK though it’s too bad it doesn’t have the pretty ads for you!! Pretty pictures is totally why I have a few Japanese mags ;). Every time I see Rouge Deluxe post about all these freebies I want the magazines (I still want a small tote for a lunch bag) but other than AmazonJP I don’t think anyone ships to Canada and AmazonJP uses DHL which is the devil of shipping (and also really expensive).

Tomo and Kazumi and a lovely group of girls took me for high tea in Yokohama!! I want to go again (there should be SOMEWHERE in Calgary that does it)! I mostly remember the cakes being PERFECT and the tea being such a ceremony… it was lots of fun. No macarons though :(. I recently found two bakeries in Calgary which sell macarons that are actually quite good… but every time I forget to take pictures (oops).

  29. muileng says:

hey, th cher is a black or a purple tote bag ?

  30. Grace says:

    OMG!! Those cakes look delicious!!!

  31. Tiffany says:

    Hey Yumeko! :)

The storyline sounds pretty generic, but it’s really cute, haha. Okay I SUCK at summarizing, LOL. Wiki:

Shiang Yu Ping, an expert divorce and inheritance lawyer, is seen by others as cold, selfish, and ruthless. After Yu-ping’s older brother dies in a car accident he has little choice in taking in his brother’s two orphaned children, Fei and Ting. Every nanny he hires to care for them is either scared off by the mischievous children or ends up falling in love with him. Fed up, Yu Ping asks his secretary, Yang Duo, to find a nanny that meets his requirements. Having lost all their wealth when their mother passed away and being abandoned by their father after racking up heavy debts; Yang Duo can not ignore the fact that she needs the money and recommends her younger sister, Yang Guo, for the job; assuring Yu Ping that her tomboyish sister will not fall in love with him by lying that she does not like men at all.

LOL I’m sorry I fail :X BUT really :) even if the plot summary doesn’t sound good, you should check it out anyways! <3 (Btw, the Tezaiku store you used to have was so cute! I loved your chou chous! ^^)

  32. Chung says:

I love that Cher eco bag! <3 Super cute and the pastel colours go so well with each other.

& how did you get recognized when you don't post pics of yourself!? XD

  33. nlngstar says:

the magazine is so thick! ha, I like to see magazine scans <3

  34. abby says:

hey hun i added you on twitter and i cant find your facebook. LOL. anyway uhm i love japanese magazines because they add more in them than the u.s ones. the u.s ones are filled with articles i care absolutely NOTHING for. lol. the thing is i can get those magazines here at little tokyo but their like 18.00USD a magazine which is INSANE! i wish i lived there i’d LOVE the perks! oh gosh look at all the treats super yummy!! i’m so hungry now lol.

  35. Oct says:

hello! i absolutely ador cher. i have the orange summer version from last year as well as the smaller purple and white version. i wonder if i should get the latest one? the pass case is enticing.

the iPhone case is looking really good! can’t wait to see the final product. =)

    • Bittenbefore says:

      • Oct says:

        • Bittenbefore says:

thanks! u are very sweet! what’s your nick on twitter? cos if i dont recognise it , i may not have approved the friends request on it. sorry!!!

        • Bittenbefore says:

          i didnt get a request for it..can u resend on twitter? ^^

  36. May says:

  37. Dezzy says:

Awww the food looks really delicious! Im getting hungry now :D!
I quite bummed that we dont have those magazines over here :(
Maybe i should think about a suscription!

    • Bittenbefore says:

haha yeah exactly :) PLUS you get it all nicely delievered so you dont have to worry about it anymore ^__^

        xx

        • Bittenbefore says:

YES! dont u hate it when the magazines come out and u have to carry a whole bunch home. they weigh a ton!!

        • Dezzy says:

haha zomg, so true! people always underestimate the weight of paper!
so suscriptions are a really good idea if you wanna buy them anyway ^__^
just advantages! plus sometimes you get goodies for suscribing as well!

          xx

  42. Catherine says:

  43. ali says:

i just came back from hongkong & i was so upset! the weather was drizzly (kay not a word but whatever lol) & i didn’t manage to buy anything except a tub of angels on bare skin from lush. i didn’t even manage to find a good place to eat!

kay that had nothing to do with your post but i needed to vent :x lol

& that’s one of my favorite dbsk songs! i prefer the korean version, but both versions bring something out in me that makes me all depressed inside. i think it’s the ah-ah-ah parts lol

  44. Trina says:
