Do you use a foundation brush or do you use a sponge?
Whilst i own several foundation brushes, i cant help but use a sponge as well.
Sometimes i use it just to finish up on applying foundation [usually bbcream] but there are times i prefer to use it just all over my face as well. <–Esp when i travel. Its easy for me to carry a sponge than a big foundation brush. But sponges can get messy and difficult to travel with.
Till i found this!
cny01
Zeno Strip foundation puff
Bought it in SASA for about HKD$10. Around USD$1.20

cny03
Cons:
- small sponge, difficult to apply over your entire face
- if u only use one sponge and put it back in the case, it may also get the other clean sponges dirty.

Pros:
- Comes in a case
- Cheap
- can also be used for contouring, apply concealer in small areas.
- great to use in conjunction with a foundation brush [to remove the last few marks of brush strokes]

With the case opened…

In other news, I made a few new friends this week!

I met up with Miss E [she reads my blog occasionally] at the Agnes B Cafe
cn01
She gave me some taiwanese snacks [She's visiting from Taiwan]. Thank you very much! Hope to see you before you go back and also in Taiwan!!!

And i also met up with a fellow expat Miss R! Had a GREAT chat with her about the trials and tribulations of being an expat in Hong Kong! Hope to see you again soon Rayna!!

Lastly, Miss Lisa also introduced her cousin Miss Q to me! We had lunch at Elements.
cn06
This is the dessert she had. Doesnt it look cool? The hair bit is made of sugar she says.
Have a good flight Miss Q! Hope to see you soon! And lets go holidays together next time!!

Also met up with WY,KM, J and Lisa to go to the flower market in Victoria Park Causeway Bay. We went last night and it was madness! Thankfully WY, J and KM were there. They were REALLY enthusiastic and if not for them, i would not have walked through the whole market.  The husband came along and took some really nice photos so i will upload them when i get it from him.

Are you celebrating Chinese New Year?
We dont celebrate it in Japan [We do the usual 1st Jan as New Year..aka Western Calender?] Anyway its good cos my new year decorations got double usage this year XD
cny11
Funny story about the decoration above. I brought it with my from Tokyo and hung it on my door in Hong Kong. Because too many of my neighbours asked me when i bought it from, i had to move it indoors XD But i got to meet my neighbours at least hahahahahah

But its not just Chinese New Year this year! Its also Valentine’s Day!!

I bought this Star Wars material in USA and made pjs for the husband XD <-- yup i actually sewed them!
cny09

Also bought him something else..really odd XD
cny08
No not a lipstick!! [Thats for size reference]

Can you tell what it is yet?
cny06

Its a trash can modelled like a starbucks cup XD The husband loooves his coffee.
cny05
I know its odd to buy a trashcan for valentine’s day but it was something he needed and i knew he would love it. So i rather get this than just something for the sake of getting it.

I also had valentine cupcakes at COCO….
cn04
But i didnt have it with my husband XD And before you think something crazy..i had it with Miss Lisa.
NOT because we are celebrating Vday together but because we really wanted cupcakes at COCO and this was all they had left hahahahahaha [its sold in a set]

Are you celebrating Chinese New Year? Valentine’s Day?
What are you doing this weekend?

XOXO Yumeko

p.s sorry only two blog entries this week. Its been crazy busy. Will try to do my regular 3 next week.

Oh the desserts look SO good. I love the way the candy floss looks best though I think! The door decoration is so cute!! And very economical to use it for both New Years celebrations :) I’m glad it allowed you to meet your neighbours as well – I hope they are all nice!!

When were you in the USA??? How did I miss it?? I’m sure he will love the PJs though. Did he like the lightsabre chopsticks? Were they easy to use? And the garbage can is AWESOME. I wish I could buy them here! I think it’s a good idea to get something that is useful rather than for the sake of buying… :)

The cupcakes are cute!! I’m going out with my friends for lunch for CNY and just having dinner with the family for Valentine’s Day as I don’t have a S.O to spend it with!

And before you ask, yes I did send Kazumi and Tomo packages. I don’t think they’ll get there in time!

i nearly thought you gave him a lippie!until i scroll down below.. haha!

i never tried a sponge before and would love to try..and sometimes would use a brush..can i ask do you damp the sponge when you try to blend in the foundation? because sometimes i think some of my bb creams doesn’t seems to blend well into my skin…

I like using sponges sometimes but they are absorb too much product. More prefer using a foundation brush.

  12. Katy says:

LOL I thought that Taiwanese snack after your sponges were a sponge! I was like.. why is there a fork in the picture?!

Anyway, I usually use a foundation brush for liquid foundation but I’ve been back to minerals lately so I’m using a kabuki brush.

    • Bittenbefore says:

which minerals do you reccomend? i tried them for a while but it got a bit too messy for me XD

      • Katy says:

I use Lumiere mineral foundation right now… I haven’t tried any other other than Bare Essentials but I like Lumiere. =) Plus their kabuki brush rocks!

  13. ? Cookiie says:

Omg, is that COCO place in HK? The cupcakes look incredibly delicious! Could you tell me where the place is, because I’m going to HK this summer. I’d definitely want to try that out, haha~ ?

  14. Yinnie says:

if im going out for the evening, i actually like to use a sponge after i applied my foundation, to stipple because i don’t own a stipple brush.

and ya, I was wondering what the hair looking part on the dessert was, haha … it kind of looked like an inedible piece of food, lol.

  27. Eka says:

Where in HK did you get the trash bin? I want to get one when I go back there. Looks really cool plus I love coffee. :) Next year, bring a few of those New Year decorations back from Japan so when your neighbors ask about it, aside from telling them the same story over and over again, they can also buy from you. teeheehee :)

    • Bittenbefore says:

i got it in mongkok! ^^ i got it in a random store so i dont know the name of it. it didnt seem to have a name either.one of those holes in the wall haha but i am sure u will find it since more than one store sells it.

  28. miemiemie says:

what a cute trash can! haha happy valentine’s dear!

  29. Jian says:

First off, Happy New Year!! I hope you have an enjoyable time experiencing a real Chinese new year!! It’s my first time spending it in Shanghai too! So far, I’ve heard so many fire crackers already. My dad also bought some, I must admit, I’m quite worried! And actually, your decoration is really unique! No wonder everyone wanted to know where it was from! We don’t have any new year’s decorations since my parents never hang them up. =_=

Hope you and your husband have a lovely valentine’s day as well. It’s so cute that you made him pjs, and that cup-bin is such a good idea!! =D

  30. Olive says:

  36. Eva says:

Happy CNY!!! do you guys celebrate lunar new year in japan? I love that trash can…mmm cupcakes yum!

  37. ali says:

i celebrated chinese new year by giving my grandma a back massage lol & i’m gonna have to check out those foundation puffs from sasa. i’m still lazily using my fingers to spread foundation &/or bbcream lol

    • Bittenbefore says:

aww that is so sweet giving your grandma a back massage!!

i cant use my fingers as i am a bit ocd about using my hands to touch things. for example, i wear disposable gloves when cooking etc XD

  38. Catherine says:

Those sponges are so cute. I always use a kabuki to apply my foundation since it’s mineral powder. Amazing food pics as always and LOL at the present you got your hubby!!

  39. Nat says:

HAHAHA omg… I for a moment I thought the trashcan was a normal sized cup! Like one of the reusable ceramic ones so you can reuse instead of creating more waste using plastic cups. THEN that’s when I saw the NARS lipgloss next to it! LMAO, it made me crack up so much. I was like “It’s HUGE!” And read on to find out it’s a trashcan XD

  40. mayaari says:

i alternate with using a brush and a blending sponge (like the beauty blender, but from target) depending on what’s clean/what sort of finish i want – those little sponges would definitely come in handy for travel!

ohmygosh, haha – for a second i thought that was a REAL coffee cup! the fact that it’s a trash can is great though – and who says a valentine’s gift can’t be useful and thoughtful :)

  41. miemiemie says:

you’re always too nice to me yumeko,my dark undereye circles totally ruin my entire look..ahaha sometimes concealers don’t even work..or maybe my dark circles are way too dark for anything. with the limited stuff we have in my area,i can’t find anything that’ll work

  42. choh says:

the trash can is cute! now you’ve gotten me tempted with it!
