Well…I wrote about makeup on monday, magazine on tuesday and character goods/conbini finds on Wednesday.
So what should thursday be about? Food of course XD
Have you been to the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum?

WARNING: there is a lot of food porn in this post. If you get hungry whilst reading this, its not my fault XD
The Ramen Museum isnt exactly a museum per say. There are some exhibitions/displays related to the history of ramen but the best part of the place is in the basement….

The place is built like 1950′s Japan

So what’s here you say?
RAMEN….renowned ramen shops from all over Japan: Sapporo, Asahikawa, Fukushima, Tokyo, Yokohama, Wakayama, Hakata, and Kumamoto have been selected to have a store here.

Around lunchtime, the queues here are madness [even if u have to pay admission to get into this place]
Everytime i come here, i think of trying a bowl from every single store XD

If you visit..please dont share a bowl with someone else. This is because each restaurant is so packed..you are taking up real estate if you dont eat a bowl. As a matter of fact, there is a rule that Adult visitors are expected to order at least one bowl of ramen in EACH store. The good news is each restaurant also serves small-sized ramen or half bowls. But honestly..they are still really big bowls XD
Ok RAMEN time..lets go to my ABSOLUTE favourite store [my sister's fave too]

RyuShanghai from Yamagata

The little red ball you see is made of red miso. And you mix it through your ramen. its not overly spicy and REALLY good. Seriously this is my fave , hands down. And u know i eaten a lot of ramen XD
Ganjya from Saitama

If you want to eat unadultered ramen..straight shoyu soy sauce style..you cant go wrong with Ganjya from Saitama.
IdeShouten from Wakayama

This is a THICK tonkotsu shoyu soup. If you enjoy the strong flavours..i reccomend this. Not for the weak hearted XD
Ok i was sad and i only made it to 3 bowls this time. One day i will do the 9 bowls [HOW?!?!]
Btw all of the above are HALF BOWLS.
Side note, whilst i was on a food break, found this…

It sold RAMEN croquette

if you dont know what croquette is..check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croquette
I had one and whilst it had all the ingredients of ramen in it..it doesnt beat a bowl of piping hot ramen XD
There are non food attractions too [do u care?]

Here’s a photo from the actual museum part XD

This museum is in Shin Yokohama [ie not inside main Tokyo!! so you gotta take a train for a bit]
Wanna go visit? Here is their website http://www.raumen.co.jp/ramen/
What is your fave type of ramen?
Not related to ramen but i found this pic whilst editing pics for this post

This was taken sometime december last year when Namjatown in Ikebukurou had a One Piece Fair. I didnt post anything about it. Did you want to see?
Ok its time for lunch here..i am definetely going to go get some ramen now XD
Till tomorrow! [4 down , 1 last one to go!!!]
XOXO yumeko
p.s BEAST has a new single out
Official M/V of Beast brand-new single ‘숨’ [BREATH]

OH!!! That is SO SO COOL. Omg. I want to go there so badly. I love ramen and this place appeals so so much. *plasters self to screen*
ughhh i need to eat, NOW. hahahaa! that place looks so good! idk how you’re gonna eat 9 bowls but you should do it! LOL!
I *REALLY* wanted to come here when I went to Yokohama but K-san and the rest ended up taking me to Chinatown and then for high tea, and then to Yokohama tower… we ran out of time! The ramen looks AMAZING. I am totally telling Kelsie we need to spend a day there and just work our way through all 9 shops, haha. No other meals allowed!
*DROOLLLLLLLLL* i’m so hungry right now!! havn’t had my brunch
(
YESYESYES! pls post about the one piece fair!!! xD
LOVE ya lots Yume!!
enjoy your ramen~
xoxo
Oh I went to Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum in June and entered thoroughly excited, expecting to finish at least 5 bowls of ramen.
But I headed to RyuuShanhai first, polished off the entire medium sized bowl, and absolutely could not walk anymore>.< Shiokarasugiru ne!
I'm heading to Japan again in Dec and I have the mind to zip down to Shin Yokohama just to eat it again and cart home loads of the red miso paste from the souvenir shop upstairs
ooh another ryuushanghai fan! if u like it, 7-11 did a collabo with them to produce a instant ramen bowl
and i can tell you..its 80% close!!!!!
All the pictures are making me hungry! I’m always too stuffed after eating half a bowl of ramen & I miss the autheniic ramen in Japan….
Having 9 bowls in a days doesn’t sound like an easy feat but it will be awesome if you can!
OMG thats SOOO good. I need to go to JP just to eat the ramen… *drool*
I love ramen! I think the best ramen I had was in Japan at a village (it’s heritage listed, all old buildings but I forget the name)- was so good on a rainy day and only 500 yen.
aww i wish u remembered, i’d looove to go try it!
this place looks amazing! it’s making me crave for some ramen now! i’d love to go to Japan one day and try out authentic ramen, everything in your post looks soooo goood!!
Eventhough you warned us, DAMN YOU for making me sooo hungry! LOL
I won’t be able to eat 9 bowls of ramen! even 1/4 the size!!!! The serving is huge for half!!! I’ll definitely show this post to hubby once I get home, he’ll be interested in this for sure!!!!
Hi Yumeko! This doesn’t really have anything to do with your post today but I can’t find a way to comment on your previous entriesxD I made the oreo cheesecake you posted a couple weeks ago and it was delicious:) Thank you so much for sharing! I love it when you share recipes b/c I know that if you like them, they gotta be good hehe^^ Hope you win the bet w/your friend!!
YEAY!! i am so glad to hear it works for you.Wasnt it easy? i looove no bake heehee esp in summer!
The setting is awesome! I just love the ambiance of it.
I don’t know how you will manage to eat 9 bowls of ramen! I don’t think that I could finish one. I’m not really a ramen eater since I feel that it is bland so perhaps I would really enjoy the Ide Shouten. I think that the hubby would totally enjoy this experience though cause he LOVES ramen.
Great post!
*Kat*
i think i need to starve myself for 3days in order for me to eat there….there’s sooo many nice ramen there!
i remember having to eat hokkaido’s ramen…the corn & butter ramen….SUPPERRRRRRRRRRR NICEEE!!!!
I think my brother will ♥ to see the One Piece’s one…XDDDD

Or we can drive..abt 30 mins heehee
God, all that ramen…totally food porn. I love Wakayama/Kyushu ramen. <3
heehee glad u like it! thanks for reading!
Hey, the ramen museum was featured in NHK Tokyo Eye a while back, I loooove miso ramen… *sad hungry face*
Wait, the only subject to go is…. SEWING!!! do a sewing post tomorrow, pleeeeeeease!
Do you remember a really old post when you went to discrict in tokyo where there are lots fabric and crafts shops and went in a store called Tomato??? Lol, you gotta go back someday and take more pictures!
How are your BJ dolls BTW?

xx
Oh my god, a museum just for ramen ! It must be great :p I rarely have the chance to eat ramen in France so i would love that!
I love ramen too!! Esp miso ramen. Yummy!! But too bad there isn’t a ramen fair in my country..
umm WOW that’s like ramen heaven!!! now you’ve got me craving…
Whoaa that looks so cool! Can’t believe those are half bowls. They look like regular bowls. The regular bowls must be huge! hahah
oh god, a ramen museum that houses all the best ramens? oh myyyyyyyyyyyyyy.. dang, now I feel like getting some ramen!
T_______T Ahhhhh life is cruel! I have a stomach bug so all I’m having for dinner today is white rice congee. Sadness!!!!!
I’d say you did a pretty good job getting through 3 bowls of ramen, even if they were half-sized! I can’t believe that anyone could eat 9! Actually I lie, my boyfriend probably could if he wanted to. And my housemate. Actually, I don’t know, I might be able to too!!!! I have a pretty big maximum stomach capacity (normally). Just this stomach bug is ruining my appetite! I could really do with a big steaming bowl of ramen now though..Once I smuggled a pack of fresh ramen in my hand luggage back from Shanghai into the UK. I was so happy I could eat real ramen in England (even if it was only one meal!)
Oh my God. I love ramen… I’ve been on the hunt for a good ramen in San Francisco since I GOT here. It’s terrible, all just terrible. I have yet to find one place that’s even decent. Always something missing.
I’ll definitely have to hit this place up when we go back to Japan. I’ll ask the Mr. if he’s been. Whee!
You’re going to win the bet.
agreed! i have tried to eat ramen in other countries even in places when its a branch of a store in japan. eg ippudo in nyc
but it doesnt taste the same or anywhere as good
btw i lost the bet, i didnt blog today XD but she didnt make me buy the cigarettes
I always feel this flash of hope when the people in the restaurant speak Japanese… But I’m inevitably disappointed. (T^T) haha
I always heard people raving about how SF is a food-lover’s paradise but to be perfectly honest, I haven’t come across too many places that really impress me.
I asked the Mr. and he said he’s never been to the Ramen Museum so now we must go when we go back to Japan. He said he tried to go once when he was a student in Japan but he was too broke and didn’t want to pay the entrance fee AND pay for the ramen. haha
Well, at least you didn’t have to buy the cigarettes!
i think a lot of ppl dont realise how great the food in japan is [do we sound biased? XD]
the husband and i tend to drive there and we would get free entrance tickets for the next visit [after u pay the carparking]
next time u are in japan, let me know, if i have the free passes, i can mail it to u!
I think every Japanese person I know who’s (at least) spent some time there thinks the food is incomparable. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by a restaurant in Japan the way I have multiple times here in the States.
That’s so nice of you to offer, thank you! I’ll definitely let you know when I make it back–you’ll have to tell me about the good places to eat! haha I’m in the middle of 就活 right now so I might be in Japan by this time next year.
much agreed! however i have had some disappointing food in japan before..and its usually in the poshier places
isnt that weird???
That looks soo yummy!! One of my cousins recently when to Japan over the summer and she told me all about the ramen museum too. You guys have the BEST stuff in Japan!
i hope u get to visit it too ^^
OMG!! that restaurant is THE BOMB!!! I love the sky painting and the lights giving it a night feel!!! I LOVE IT!!
btw – I’ve never heard of BEAST. off to check them out!
wow this is really something new to me ^^ i dont think ive ever even had authentic ramen before…thanks for letting us know about it. i never knew something like this existed! it looks so good

Oh. Em. Eff. Gee.
O______________________________________O
I TOTALLY DID NOT KNOW SUCH A PLACE EXISTED – next time I go to Japan, I will DEFINITELY go visit this museum. -drool- Everything looks delicious!! I’ve never seen tastier food pron LOL. I’m suuuuch a noodle fan – when I went to Japan a few years ago, I basically had ramen or some sort of noodle every single day – with only a few exceptions for omurice, some sushi, and dessert XDDD. And I never got sick of the noodles too hahaha. Is it only open during lunch time? If, for example, I went a bit earlier around 11:00AM or a bit later around 2:00PM or something, would it be less packed and would food still be available? Or is there only X amount made per day and/or food stalls are only open during prime lunchtime? No matter what, I’m sooooo going kekekekke
“There are non food attractions too [do u care?]” <——LOL. SO TRUE. XDDDD There's so much delish food, why would you play games?!
And those half portions are still pretty darn big O.o
its open for the whole day. so i think its much less packed if u dont go at dinner or lunch time ^^
the food should still be available and they should all be open heee
geez…your post is making me crave ramen so badly right now but i can’t eat it since it’s really bad for my throat. but i swear as soon as i get my voice back, ramen will be the first thing i eat!!! ahhh!
Yume!
I am one of the biggest ramen fiends over here & reading this entry of yours has got me salivating myself silly!! LOL ahhhh it is indeed ramen heaven! you are so lucky you get to eat the BEST of the best ramen anytime you want–it is at the tip of your fingertips!! soo lucky! I am jelly for sure!! hehe one of my bf’s & my dream is to travel over to japan and embark on a ramen tour during our visit over there! We want to visit as many of the best ramen-yas as possible so that we can slurp to our hearts’ content!!! xD heheh I loveee all kinds of ramen: shoyu, kotteri shoyu, tonkotsu, miso, shio, etc., etc.!! hehe I would love to meet you one day and go eat ramen with you then go makeup hauling…woohoo!! ^_^
♥ caroline
Oh how yummy! I had some ramen today too x3. I actually remember seeing this place mentioned while watching NHK awhile back. This is one of those places I want to go someday x3. The croquette ramen sounds interesting!
wow the ramen croquette looks so interesting! I wonder how it tastes like
ohh man I am hungry now! (got my food right here, and I started munching right after the first picture). everything looks so delicious, and I can’t believe those are only half bowls! hmm I wonder if they sell ramen croquettes here, I doubt it, but I would very much like to try it someday.
my first comment in here
i miss ramen museum !
