Happy Valentine’s Day!
For those in Japan, Happy Red Day!
Not sure about countries outside of japan but we celebrate 14th February as red day. This is the day when the girls give the guys gifts etc. Generally its chocolate. There is also a practice to give giri chocolate aka obligation chocolate. Ie to just male friends.
FYI guys return a gift on 14th march aka white day.
This year, it is also popular to give tomo-choco aka friend chocolate.
As with every year, i made the chocolate i give out

Ingredients
This is the recipe i used

I saved this from a Tokyu Hands brochure from..3 years ago?
Break the milk chocolate and melt it using a double boiler

Or a bowl above boiling water in a pot [make sure the bowl doesnt touch the water]
Mix chopped peanuts through it

Pour into a tray/dish lined with wax paper
Repeat the same step with white chocolate but mix chopped caramels through it

Pour onto of the milk chocolate [Wait for it to harden slightly before u pour the white choco mix on]
Scatter heart shaped candy or whatever decoration you have

I kinda messed up..i didnt buy enough white chocolate hahaha
When it all hardens, cut into blocks/squares. These were giri choco for all my male friends.
I also baked some cupcakes and decorated them with chocolates.

I am giving these to my girlfriends ^^
And for the husband, i attempted something different this year…

I bought this chocolate mold from JUSCO supermarket [it was around 5 dollars? i forgot]

This is really for young children or perhaps teenagers i think hahah but i thought it would be amusing to try it.
It has two parts, a tray and a mold

You fill the lower layer with hot boiling water

Put a block of chocolate in the mold half and sink that into the hot water bath

When the bottom has melted, it should take on the shape of the mold.
I thought this would be easy to do but my first attempt

It broke really badly.
2nd attempt, i used two blocks of chocolate for strength [to prevent cracking]

Using some chocolate pens i bought from Daiso, i decorate the block of chocolate

End result

I blurred out my message to the husband hahahahah
Packaged the treats i made….[for the ladies]

And for one of you!
I’m giving away a cute keychain/phone strap

Its supposed to be a chou cream aka cream puff aka profiterole
Lookit the cute stitch trapped in it XD

if the bowl touches the water, there is a high chance the bottom of the bowl would be too hot and end up burning your chocolate at the bottom [even if u stir, there is still a coating at the bottom of the bowl which could burn ] hope this helps!!!!

it takes around 10mins for the bottom to melt ^^ if you lift the mold up, u can see where its melted and sunk into the mold [u kinda need to tap it a bit to help it along]
i cheated by putting it in the freezer so it cools faster before i flipped it out XD
