Last week Thursday [March 3rd] was Hinamatsuri (雛祭り) aka Princess Day. Its commonly known as the Doll Festival or Girl’s Day.
I dont have any children much less a daughter but there were some dolls in the house
I forgot to take photos of the clam miso soup we had
Whole Clam shells are served in food during hinamatsuri as they are deemed the symbol of a united and peaceful couple, because a pair of clam shells fits perfectly, and no pair but the original pair can do so. [ganked part of this from wikipedia cos i am lazy to translate]
Did you notice my new tablecloth? Its actually a plastic coated tablecloth [easy cleanup for the party]
i like the sakura printed on it too [but i guess u cant see it in this pic..doh but u can check the pics above of it in use]
How was everyone’s weekend?
I went to see the Sakura in Kawazu [Shizuoka] Its their last weekend of full bloom there. They will stop around Wednesday [9th March]
FYI Kawazu has their sakura one of the earliest of the season in Japan. Generally they wont bloom in Tokyo till around April. However i am going away in April so i thought i better go see some now. Heehee ^^V!
