Super thanks to everyone who wrote really sweet comments about my sewing in my last post! It made me realise that its been ages since i last did a sewing blog post. So here it is! ^^
Today, i am going to show you guys how i changed this old hoodie of mine into a tote bag

FYI i bought this hoodie in Taiwan years and years ago but i rarely wore it as i felt it was too warm for summer wear yet totally useless in winter since the sleeves were so short. it was no good for layering either as it was a very large hoodie. I thought abt adding long sleeves but oh in the end , i just outgrew the look XD
You will need a few other items…

Cardboard, black knit cloth [which matches the bottom of the hoodie] and paper for drafting your pattern
First of all, fold the hoodie in half and cut top off. Cut handles. I didnt use a pattern, i just cut it freehand. XD

i made sure to keep the cat since it looked so cute XD
Use your drafting paper [or u can be cheap like me and use advertisement paper XD recycle!!] to trace the handles

Cut the same shapes out from black knit and line the handles. This part is kinda tricky and i still havent figured out a good way to do it. So you’ll have to do some trial and error experimentation here. If i figure out a good method, i will do another post on it or update this one!
Measure the bottom of the hoodie

Yup its time to do some maths.

Draft your base pattern based on the calculations above

Cut two pieces from the black knit.
Cut a piece of cardboard using the pattern. If you intend to wash the bag, do use plastic canvas instead.

Sew the two pieces of the black knit around the edges of the bottom of the hoodie, leave one end open

Insert the cardboard. Sew up the last end.
I forgot to take photos but the last step is to sew a lining for the bag, add velcro closures/pocket on the inside..watever you like.
The end result

Hopefully this gives you an idea of how to go about doing it on your own ^^ I’m not very good at making sewing tutorials [which is why i rarely make them] I didnt learn how to sew so a lot of things i do in sewing are made up as i go XD
Any questions? Feel free to ask!! ^^
A few of you have been asking me how the home slippers i showed u guys a sneak peek of a while ago, turned out

Cant say i am 100% happy. The bottom is too filmsy and hurts when i walk too much in them on the hard floor. i think its ok if you are walking on plush carpet constantly but i am not.
Anyway last weekend, whilst in Jusco, i noticed these on sale

They are shoe inserts for those of us who wish to be a little taller XD They are meant for boots which explains why they were on sale [Boot wearing season aka winter is wayyy over now XD] Going to try to put these in the slippers and see how it goes. Will report back! ^^
Its 1st of June! Where did the last 5 months go!?
Hope you are keeping well
XOXO Yumeko
p.s i hate to have to say this but please dont ask me for sewing tutorials or patterns on things like brushrolls/pouches/whatever stuff i sell. To be honest, i find it kind of rude. Hope you can understand ^^;;
