A few weeks ago, i went on a family trip to Chichibu in Saitama
One of the highlights was visiting a kakigori store named Asami Reizou which only opens in summer.

There is always a long long queue outside Asami Reizou

If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait over 2 hours in line [OMG]
There are two branches of Asami Reizou, this is the newer branch.

The original store is about 3 blocks away and has been around over 100 years
This store is much newer [opened a few years ago?] and has lovely indoor sitting

Kakigori is shaved ice with flavoured syrups. Kinda like a snow cone. Except over here in Asami Reizou, its done with natural ice dug from the lake during winter and stored for use in summer. If you think its going to taste the same as a snowcone or perhaps even ice kachang [found in certain parts of asia] or perhaps patbingsoo [in korea], you are wrong. It would be like comparing milk and chalk water. Not the same thing at all XD.
I had the matcha! [love green tea]

700yen [about USD$8.50]
And the husband had the strawberry milk

800 yen [about USD$9.50]
You pour the milk + strawberry syrup concoction on…

They give you more milk [its condensed milk] as well..in case u like it super milky

My matcha flavoured one had red bean paste in the middle..mmmmmm yum yum

Kakigori from Asami Reizou is kinda like eating sherbet. it doesnt taste icey at all and melts in your mouth.
i have eaten kakigori from many places but i still think this place has the best one around. I highly reccomend a visit! But be prepared to queue!!

FYI, we drove there and it took about 2hrs from Tokyo. There is also carparking available [costs abt 500yen] so if you wish to drive, go for it!
Totally unrelated but in my last post i posted a pic of the angry bird plushies my brother in law bought me in Singapore..many of you commented that you prefer the game “Cut the Rope”
Well you will be glad to know i also spotted “Cut the Rope” plushies in Singapore!

i dont know the store name but this store was found in Iluma. HTH!
And quick cosme news!
Have you seen the gorgeous HimeBus [princess bus] from cosmetic brand Kiss Me?

It was in Shibuya but i think its a little hard to find now so i bring you some inside info on where to find it
If you are in Japan, go to Odaiba [between megaweb and venus fort], it will be parked there on the 27th July! You can board the bus and try all the products the brand makes. Kiss Me is famous for their Heroine Make mascaras and eyeliners! There will be over 22 different products to try/get. Get there between 11am and 7pm!! Call 03-3262-3450 for details [in japanese only]
