Have you ever attended a cooking class?
I never have. So when Lynette mentioned she wanted to do a cooking class, i offered to look up classes in english for her [she doesnt speak a lot of japanese yet] and decided to join her in class.
Since many of my readers here are always asking about english speaking places in Japan[hair salons, nail salons etc], i thought this would be an interesting thing to blog about.
This is what i made [and took home]

Maccha Tiramisu [Green Tea Tiramisu]
So last week, i did a one day lesson at ABC Cooking School with Lynette and her friends [my new friends] Lita and Sonja.

ABC Cooking school has many cooking schools throughout Japan though all classes are taught in japanese.
However they do have one one school that teaches a few classes in english and it just happens to be in Tokyo!
This school is in Roppongi Midtown.

Here we are making the sponge cake portion of the tiramisu

The class is easy as the teacher measures and weighs everything you need. Its up to you to whisk/fold/mix etc. The teacher doesnt show you [no example] so if you dont know how to work a whisk or do basic baking steps, this class would be difficult for you i think. The pace is fairly fast as well so experience in the kitchen will help you keep up.
However if you know how to cook and just want to learn new recipes or trying new ingredients, this is a HEAP OF FUN!
Here we are adding the final touches

We were each given a box to bring it home.

The tiramisu had 2 layers of cream, one was cream with red beans and the other was mascarpone with custard powder

I didnt post the recipe as it is from the school but if u want it and follow me on twitter, tweet me there and i’ll dm it to you [i can only dm u if u follow my twitter : yumeko55] And oh yes, please dont share it around or repost of cos!
please leave me a comment here FIRST before you ask me on twitter. Thank you.
Some details
The class cost 4000yen per person and you will get to bring the finished cake home.
You are advised to bring along your own apron, slippers and oven mitts [though they have them too]
Reservations are required [if u read japanese, u can do it online at their site]

I had a really good time and intend to join Lynette and Sonja in another lesson with them next month.
After that, i think i might try doing their japanese classes as there are more interesting classes offered in japanese. The only problem is, i dont really want to do them alone so i am trying to convince Lynette and Sonja to do it with me [i'd do the translations for them lol]
In semi-related news, i have been making soy milk pudding lately XD
Those of you on twitter might have seen the pics but i thought i post them here too!

[Chopper from One Piece Manga/Anime]
And the always loved Hello Kitty

I’m awaiting a piece of news so please send me tons of good vibes!!!
Hope the rest of the week goes smoothly for you
xx Yumeko

i agree with you! the cake was fairly big and if u had bought it in a store in jp will cost around 3000yen i feel [even chain store cake stores like fujiya would charge abt 2600yen for a cake like tat] so in the aspect it was kinda worthwhile
Also each cake used almost a whole tub of mascarpone. in japan mascarpone is really expensive. abt 1200yen a tub and is very hard to find XD
So considering all tat, i decided to take the course hee
