Last week i posted about Canal City Hakata and i mentioned there was a Ramen Stadium in it.
I promised a separate blog post about it so here it is!

Warning: This post will make you hungry. Lots of foodie pics ahead.

ramen-2
This is located inside of CANAL CITY HAKATA [see my blog post on it here]
ramen-3

There are 8 ramen restaurants here All from Hakata or places nearby.
ramen-4
Each restaurant is a branch of a very famous ramen store in Japan.

For the first night, we chose to go to 初代 秀ちゃん

They seem to have won many awards and there are tons of signatures from celebrities found on the walls of this tiny store.

The offerings

Fukuoka is famous for mentaiko and their dashimaki tamago
Its similar to the tamagoyaki i showed you how to make here except they add a lot more dashi. It tastes a little spongey like XD
ramen-5
出し巻き玉子明太マヨのせ [400円]

A small bite sized type of gyoza is also famous in Fukuoka.
ramen-11
餃子 [i forgot the price XD]

But everyone is here to eat ramen [its a Ramen stadium afterall XD] Here’s what we ate
ramen-10
ラーメン弐号 [750円]
Hakata ramen soup stock is extremely thick tonkotsu. its one of its features as well as using a very thin ramen noodle.
Its very hard to eat a big bowl’s worth XD I enjoyed this quite abit! Needless to say its very sinful lol.

2 days later, we returned to try らーめん二男坊
ramen-13

They won best ramen in a Hakata only  regional competition

What i had:
ramen-15
焦がしにんにく煮玉子らーめん[800円]
I loved this! The soup was omg thick but the addition of the black garlic oil really makes it work!

What the husband had
ramen-16
煮玉子らーめん[750円]
Basically what i ate without the garlic oil XD

When in Fukuoka, you HAVE to eat the local ramen. I know many of you have told me you are frightened to go into japanese restaurants as you are not confident of your japanese. Well if you are not confident in your japanese, a visit to the Ramen Stadium is what you need. Everything is ordered via vending machines and lots of pictures. Highly reccomended.

I am not ashamed to say, i ate ramen every single day i was in Fukuoka [for 7 days straight]
Needless to say my cholesterol is probably through the roof lol. You dont want to know how much weight i gained lol.
I havent eaten any since i got back [almost a month] though i did finally eat some miso ramen on Saturday XD
But if you wish to read about the other ramen places i ate at, [ie what/where the locals eat] just let me know and i’ll post about it :D

Have a great week ahead!!
XOXO Yumeko
