The 3 coins store has recently launched a petit price cosmetics range.
They include items like eyeshadow, mascara, nail polish etc
Each item is 315yen [Approx USD$5]
I know many of you like to see reviews of cheap makeup in Japan so i picked up the following two items to try!
The eyeshadow palette [003 palette]
Inside
The packaging is similar to many brands [MUJI comes to mind] and is sturdy. There is a mirror where the applicator is kept [nice touch]
Here is the mascara [comes in black or brown, i picked the brown one]
Its extremely small so if you are looking for something to carry on the go, this isnt too bad.
Next to a MAC lipstick for size comparison
Overall Thoughts
I really like the combination of colors of the eyeshadows and the packaging is really sleek.
The mirror is a really nice touch though the brush is rubbish.
However there is quite a bit of fallout so i recommend you use it with a primer. [like UDPP or TFSI etc]
I would buy again if there were other color combinations released that i like.
The mascara is ordinary and seems to have very little product in it. Definetely wont get that again XD
Here are pics of other items sold
For those unfamiliar with the 3Coins store, it is a store where everything is 315yen [USD$5~]

In other news, i am back from my trip to Taipei! [not a long trip, just 5 days]
Sadly for me, i must have caught something on the flight back as i started to get a bad sore throat etc on the way home.
Hopefully it clears up asap!
Hope YOU are doing well!
XOXO Yumeko
Thanks for the review! Glad to know that ‘cheap’ make up can be as good as regular priced stuff as well. Incidentally, have you read that article by an ex-insider that all makeup stores buy their products from the same couple of suppliers but simply brand them differently?
Good to know you had a good time in Taiwan – did you OD on bubble tea? haha.
In the mean time, take care and get well soon!
i find that hard to believe since its so hard to buy dupes XD
i drank a lot of bubble tea indeed heee
thanks for the well wishes sweetie!
Mwahahah burnt capy colours xD
Yumeko! I’ve missed you! 🙂 i love all your photos..
Thanks! hope u are well ^^
Thank you for the review. I didn’t know about this store when I was in Japan. Another thing to put on my new to do list for when (if) I go back to Japan. I’m hoping that we will sooner than later.
Sorry to hear that you caught something on the trip back home. Hope you get over it quickly.
i am sure u will be back soon!
i am almost over it! fingers crossed it doesnt get worse at work hahaha
Wow 315! Great price 🙂 Thanks for the review; looks as though the eye shadows aren’t a bad deal. It would be convenient to take with you to weekend getaways since it’s nice and compact and has several colours ^^
Welcome back and I hope you feel better soon! Keep bundled up!
thanks missy ! u must be moving soon?
Yep! In 10 days to be exact, yikes~!
I loooooove the 3coin shop! Half of the stuff in my apartment comes from there! But I don’t think I’m interested in their make up. Since it’s all so small I thought it might be good to squeeze in a tiny handbag for a night out. But it looks like it’s not worth it…
i dont think u would want to carry eyeshadow out for a night out xD
i’ve never tried a brown mascara but the eyeshadow shades looks gorgeous!

Never been to 3 coins, but it sounds interesting! In Australia, Daiso is $2.80 which is at least 4 coins 🙂
when i first heard abt it, i thought AUD$2.80 was pricey but i realised their locations in australia [melb anyway] is really expensive! so thats probably part of it
